Our Journey
At Lobsang, we take immense pride in the fusion of traditional skills with contemporary artistry that goes into each of our rugs. A distinguished name in the world of handcrafted Tibetan rugs, Lobsang brand was founded by Mr. Lobsang Lama who is a visionary artist with a rich cultural heritage and a flair for innovative design. Mr. Lobsang holds a lineage that started with his ancestors and where his grandfather was the 7th generation Thangka artist taught by the 13th Dalai Lama. Mr. Lobsang started at the carpet industry business at a young age of 25 when he had just graduated from college with no real experience in carpet weaving. It was his father who put him into the carpet business with partners from a monastery in South India known as Drepung Gomang College. That is where the name Gomang Carpet Manex Pvt. Ltd. was derived from. Lobsang is a premium brand of Gomang Carpet Manex.
In early days of his career, Mr. Lobsang Lama displayed true dedication and humility. Despite being the Managing Director of the company, he had humble beginnings and did whatever was necessary to keep the company running smoothly. From building camaraderie with the staffs to doing menial tasks, Mr. Lobsang was deeply involved in every aspect of the business. His willingness to start from the bottom and perform any task laid a strong foundation for the company’s growth and success. Now with 35 years experience in hand-knotted Tibetan carpets, Mr. Lobsang has been at the head of everything we do at Gomang Carpets.
Lobsang brand is committed to excellence at every stage of the carpet-making process. From sourcing high-quality raw wool to the intricate dyeing of yarn, each step is meticulously overseen. Our weaving process requires exceptional attention to detail, ensuring that every carpet meets the highest standards of craftsmanship.

Message From The CEO
At Lobsang, we take immense pride in the fusion of traditional skills with contemporary artistry that goes into each of our rugs. Our journey began with my deep-rooted heritage in the art of Thangka painting, passed down through generations. My grandfather, the 7th generation Thangka artist, was taught by the 13th Dalai Lama himself.
At the age of 25, fresh out of college and with no real experience in carpet weaving, I was entrusted by my father to step into the carpet industry. Partnering with the revered Drepung Gomang College in South India, we established Gomang Carpet Manex Pvt. Ltd., from which our premium brand, Lobsang, emerged.
In the early days, I embraced the challenges and responsibilities of running a company from the ground up. Despite my role as Managing Director, I never shied away from the humblest of tasks. Building strong relationships with our staff and being deeply involved in every aspect of the business were crucial steps that laid the foundation for our growth and success.
With over 35 years of experience in hand-knotted Tibetan carpets, my dedication to excellence remains unwavering. At Gomang Carpets, we honor our heritage while continually pushing the boundaries of design and craftsmanship.
